Do seasons affect your business? Yes. Weather makes a
difference. She can do some things in the new barn over the winter.
How do you keep the farm nice? She uses six types of cover
crops like buckwheat and oats. She rotates areas where she plants and keeps
records of them. She uses nearby water to irrigate. She uses compost and
manure to help the soil.
Why did you want to become a farmer? She became a farmer
because it’s healthy and fun and good to work outside.
What are your biggest problems? Rocks and weeds.
How long have you been farming organically. 5 years.
Why don’t you use chemicals? Organic farmers don’t use
chemicals. They use natural enemies to get rid of pests. They use cover crops
for the soil and manure and compost.
