Farm Landscapes in Watercolor by Grade 4

Which landscapes show past farming?

Can you see past tools, like animals plowing or old buildings?

Can you see machinery?

Which paintings show farming today?

Students created these landscapes of farms by doing the following activities:

	Explored farm landscapes by local artists as well as artists like Grandma Moses, Benton and Curry.
	They utilized old postcards and images of Portsmouth as well as our research done on the field trips for ideas. We used our on-sight sketches and photography to help us create these landscapes.
	Students need to create a finished watercolor with the following criteria: Show past or present farming landscape, 2 values, 4 different kind of textures, background, middle-ground and foreground as well as use atleast two intermediate colors
